National Fish & Chip Day returns for 2026!

The biggest event in the fish and chip calendar is back on Friday 5th June, thanks to NEODA, and we are delighted to announce Hook & Fish (Q Partnership’s packaging brand) as the joint headline sponsor and the official packaging partner of National Fish & Chip Day 2026.

Hook & Fish is at the forefront of sustainable packaging within the sector. The range includes designs like the "Fold It, Bin It" box, which significantly reduces the volume of packaging waste. Additionally, the range supports shops with specifically sized boxes that make managing portion sizes effortless.

The full collection - which includes bags, greaseproof paper, and napkins - provides shops with a high-quality, uniform look. To celebrate the event, we will once again offer limited-edition, Hook and Fish National Fish and Chip Day Corrugated Boxes and Greaseproof paper.

Why not get the date in your diary and start planning today?

Here is how your shop can join the celebrations and turn the build-up into a opportunity for your business.

Start the Build-Up Early: Don’t wait until June 5th to start promoting the day. In recent years the most successful shops use the weeks leading up to the big day to grow awareness and to promote fish and chips.

Behind-the-Scenes Teasers: Use your social media to show the preparation. Post videos of fish being prepared or your team peeling local potatoes. It builds trust and highlights the quality of your ingredients.

Decorate the Shop: First impressions matter. Get your posters, and window displays ready before the big day. NEODA offers downloadable toolkits and branded merchandise - from t-shirts to caps - that make your team look like part for National Fish and Chip Day. We also offer free posters.

Engage Your Customers: National Fish and Chip Day is about attracting customers to fish and chips while building awareness of our fantastic dish.

The 2026 Special: Consider a one-day-only menu item. Whether it’s a "taster box" featuring different species like hake, saithe or pollock, or a family bundle that offers great value, give people a reason to choose your shop over the competition.

Social Media: To promote National Fish and Chip Day 2026 to your local community, social media remains a key tool. Use the official hashtag #nationalfishandchipday and promote your food and what you are doing for the day in advance and on the day itself.
