Briar Wilkinson - A Tribute
In January 2018 the Fish and Chip Industry lost a Great Lady.
Briar Wilkinson worked in our industry for nearly 60 years becoming Sales and Marketing Director of Drywite in 1988. She and her husband Ken have given unwavering support and dedication to our trade throughout and, for example, attended every NFFF President’s Banquet for over 50 years, attended every National Fish and Chip Awards and, in 1995, established The Drywite Young Fish Frier of the Year Competition in memory of Briar’s father Malcolm Lee.
Her efforts and passion for Fish and Chips have helped to inspire hundreds of young friers to achieve great things in the industry, demonstrating that running a fish and chip shop can be a great career, not just a job.
Briar was a huge supporter of the Fishermen’s Mission and was very proud to be one of the charity’s Vice Patrons. She was Honorary Secretary of NEODA since 1991.
Ever helpful, warm, enthusiastic and approachable, Briar will be sadly missed by us and many of our customers who will have had the pleasure of meeting her at so many trade exhibitions and industry events over the years.
